Table Runner - Step One

Table Runner - Step One

Firstly, cut out 2 X 100cm x 35 cm pieces of your fabric. Take into consideration the placement of the pattern.

Step Two

Step Two

Next, place these two pieces right sides together and pin. Leave a 15cm gap on one edge - this is for pulling the fabric through the right way around.

Step Three

Step Three

Now sew along this pinned edge on the sewing machine, making sure to leave the 15cm gap unsewn.

Step Four

Step Four

Trim the excess threads and snip corners at an angle, this will help to create neat points when turned the right way around.

Step Five

Step Five

Now, using the gap you left unsewn, turn the table runner the right side around. Push out corners with a pointed edge such as a pencil.

Step Six

Step Six

Press all the edges with iron, when you get to the opening, neatly fold over the raw edges and also press with the iron.

Step Seven

Finally, top stitch around all the edges, you can choose a contrasting or matching thread for this. Trim off all the excess threads and you now have your completed table runner!

Napkins - Step One

Napkins - Step One

To start your napkin, cut out a square which measures 30cm x 30cm.

Step Two

Next, to create the mitered corners, mark a dot 1 inch (approx. 2.5cm) into each corner.

Step Three

Step Three

Fold all the corners together, making sure to match the edges. Pin in the centre, level with the dot.

Step Four

Step Four

Sew from the folded edge to the middle, level with the dot, leaving the other side open.

Step Five

Step Five

Trim the corners just above the sewn line, using a sharp edge such as a pencil, push the corners right side around.

Step Six

Step Six

Fold over the edges twice so that there is no raw edge showing and pin in place. Once you have done one side, the next side should sit nicely on top, repeat on the other two sides.

Step Seven

Step Seven

Now, top stitch around all edges, press with iron and snip all excess threads to finish your napkin.
