Using bold, bright fabric
Bright, bold colours such as hot pink, electric blue, zingy lime and zesty orange are naturally associated with the carnival and can be used to great effect in your home.
Using bright fabric can be daunting especially if you usually choose muted colours but these bold and brash tones can be used as accent colours to inject a feeling of cheerfulness into your room scheme especially when used against a neutral background.
Curtain fabric can be bright and bold featuring tropical birds or a floral fabric and will look great against a bright white backdrop. Choose some of the colours in the fabric and use for plain cushions or for the colour for the walls.
For something different use the bold print as an upholstery fabric and use to cover a statement chair, this will add real impact to your room, especially if everything else is in neutral shades.
It’s not easy to mix these bright and bold patterns so it’s best to let the feature fabric take pride of place and have everything else plain. However, this doesn’t mean that colours should be in pale shades use bright jewel coloured fabric in turquoise, pink and purple for cushions and accessories.
